1975

University days.

roadruiner.jpg (32262 bytes) My uncle riding a contraption we christened the "Road Ruiner". I made it from a motorised lawn mower, wood, pram wheels and the steering wheel he donated from an old "Essex" car. monash.jpg (27848 bytes) Monash University from Howitt Hall, where I lived for three years. The engineering buildings are at the far right. Huge ants with a mean bite used to fly in our windows from the reserve at the lower left.
pelican.jpg (18931 bytes) A pelican at Healesville Sanctuary, east of Melbourne. hangingrock.jpg (19471 bytes) A picnic at Hanging Rock, north of Melbourne.
drivein.jpg (29945 bytes) The twin-screen drive-in I could see from my room at Howitt Hall. If only we could have worked out a way to hear the sound... hailstones.jpg (16518 bytes) Mum holding some huge hailstones that fell that year, doing considerable damage to cars.
sign.jpg (21738 bytes) An unusual sign near Bairnsdale, on the coastal road from Melbourne to Sydney.

1972

School days. The school orchestra (of which I was leader) toured Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok.

bangkoklei.jpg (19687 bytes) Me with ears, hair, lei of flowers and violin (but no beard). bangkok.jpg (29172 bytes) A "street" market in Bangkok.
bamboocurtain.jpg (15151 bytes) The "Bamboo Curtain" (the border between Hong Kong and mainland China). bamboocurtain2.jpg (25264 bytes) A similar picture taken 12 years later - notice the difference!

Most pictures on this page were taken with a Kodak Instamatic 25, then scanned from slides with a Plustek OpticPro UT12 scanner and reduced in resolution for the web.

Why not sign my guestbook before you go? I'd love the feedback!
